NEW MEDIA/WRITING (DETROIT RED WINGS ORGANIZATION)
Editorial Assistant
- Generate traffic to DetroitRedWings.com by developing creative story ideas and writing intriguing web content.
- Produce stories for the team’s game day magazine to maximize marketing and advertising opportunities.
- Contributed three stories to the Hockeytown Winter Festival program, highlighting key players from Metro Detroit participating in the Great Lakes Invitational, Ontario Hockey League and American Hockey League games to grow interest in the event.
- Copy editor of the limited edition book 5: A Salute to Nicklas Lidstrom, a comprehensive publication about Lidstrom's legendary career with the Red Wings.
- Produced “Dual Citizenship” player profiles on alumni that played for both the Detroit and Toronto leading up to the NHL Winter Classic to raise awareness of the game and help drive ticket sales.
- Covered the 2012 Detroit Red Wings' development camp, conducting 29 interviews with prospects, coaches and management in four days for both print and video content, increasing interest in and knowledge about the club’s minor-league affiliate.
- Created the “Hockeytown Daily” format used by Red Wings TV to display video content on DetroitRedWings.com.
- Covered all of Grand Rapids’ away games and distributed the results of the games to local media outlets, helping generate coverage and increase public interest in the Griffins.
PUBLIC RELATIONS AND MARKETING (BOOST ONE MARKETING)
- Planned and executed events for clients Stephen Tulloch and Nate Burleson of the Detroit Lions and their respective foundations, raising over $50,000 through the Athletes Adopting Families Christmas event, the Celebrity Softball Game and other charitable events hosted by the two athletes to help Metro Detroit families and children in need.
- Facilitated over 60 local and national stories for corporate clients, including Happy’s Pizza and Lady Jane’s Haircuts for Men, increasing awareness of the companies, their products, and in turn generating more revenue for the company’s clients.
JOURNALISM (SPORT MAGAZINE)
- Contributed four player profiles to the book, “Heart of a Spartan,” a publication highlighting the 2010-11 and 2011-12 football seasons at Michigan State University, featuring Green Bay Packers defensive end Jerel Worthy, Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end William Gholston, Houston Texans wide receiver Keshawn Martin and former Michigan State center Joel Foreman.
- Increased the awareness of local players and teams to the Greater Lansing Area by developing intriguing story ideas and creating informative and entertaining content in SPORT Magazine.
- Assisted in editing SPORT Magazine every month to create the best possible product for the publication’s readers, while maximizing marketing and advertising opportunities to help the company grow and generate more revenue.
BROADCASTING (WLNS TV 6)
- Produced video content and wrote scripts for the nightly sportscast hosted by the station’s Sports Director, creating quality and newsworthy VOs, VO/SOTs and readers that informed viewers on the area’s latest local and national sports headlines.
- Played a pivotal role in the sports department’s marquee segment “5th Quarter,” covering as many as three high school football games in the Greater Lansing Area on Friday nights, editing the footage, writing the scripts and submitting the content to the show before the sports anchors went on air.
- Earned a three-month extension after my initial summer internship at WLNS ended, and was hired as an assistant in the sports department for my final semester at Michigan State University after working as an intern for six months.
